We at FBC are committed to seeing parents as the PRIMARY SPIRITUAL GUIDES of their children.
We believe that children are a gift from God and we can offer no greater gift to our children than an ongoing and eternal relationship with Jesus. Being a part of a church family can play a key role in a child's life as they build lasting relationships with people who care about them.
Our children and youth ministry team has a vision statement as follows:
We are a team supporting and providing opportunities for children and families to grow together and to know and share the love of Jesus through the Bible.
Our children are an important part of our church family so we encourage our families to stay in the worship gathering until they go for their own time of learning and worship. We have classes for every age from infants to Grade 5.
All Grade 6 students and upwards are encourage and discipled in serving the church whether it's as assistants to the adult volunteers in a classroom or helping out in some way in the sanctuary. We want to help them feel valued and to encourage to find their place in the church as a whole.
We recognize the value of meaningful, long term relationships so we seek to ensure that our children have continuity of leaders and familiar faces. We are grateful for all the volunteers who faithfully teach, lead and love our children out of a deep sense of God's calling.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
PLAN TO PROTECT (R) is a protection plan for churches (children and youth) that has become highly acclaimed and used by churches across Canada. We are committed to ensuring that our children/youth and volunteers are protected and secure. This is a work in progress but we are well on our way. All volunteers must :
- complete a criminal record check (and Vulnerability Sector check)
- fill out an application form with reference checks
- be personally interviewed
- attend regular "training" sessions
- be familiar with the guidelines set out in our policies and procedure manual
Thank you, and we hope to see you and your family at our worship gathering soon.
