CHILDREN & FAMILIES

Overview

FBC is committed to FAITH AT HOME - seeing parents as the PRIMARY SPIRITUAL GUIDES of their children.

Check out why!

We believe that children are a gift from God and we can offer no greater gift to our children than an ongoing and eternal relationship with Jesus.  Being a part of a church family can play a key role in a child's life as they build lasting relationships with people who care about them.
WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO KNOW...
1. They have a really big God who forgives them and loves them unconditionally and can be trusted no matter what happens.
2. They are special and gifted by God to live a life of purpose and meaning

WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO HAVE.....
1. A personal and growing relationship with Jesus and an ability to make wise choices.  The Bible is full of God’s wisdom.
2. Another voice saying the same things as their parents.
3. Nosey parents who know where their kids are spiritually because they are committed to being the primary spiritual guide of their children.
4. A safe and comfortable place to go to experience the love of God and a sense of belonging with people who love them and believe what they believe.

KIDS' CONNECTION (during Worship Gathering)

Our children are an important part of our children family so we encourage our families to stay in the worship gathering until they go for their own time of learning and relationship building.  We have classes for every age:
*Nursery - Infants and crawlers;     *Toddlers - up to Age Two;    *Age 2 & 3    *Ages 4 - kindergarten;     * Grades 1 - 4 .
*Children, in Grades 5 and up, are encouraged to be Junior Leaders.  Potential Junior Leaders should speak to Pam Borchert, for more information.
We recognize the value of meaningful, long term relationships so seek to ensure that our children have continuity of leaders and familiar faces.  We are grateful for all the volunteers who faithfully teach, lead and love our children out of a deep sense of God's calling.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

PLAN TO PROTECT (R) – is a protection plan for churches (children and youth) that has become highly acclaimed and used by churches across Canada.  We are committed to ensuring that our children/youth and volunteers are protected and secure.  This is a work in progress but we are well on our way.   All volunteers must :

  • complete a criminal record check (and Vulnerability Sector check)
  • fill out an application form with reference checks
  • be personally interviewed
  • attend regular "training" sessions
  • be familiar with the guidelines set out in our policies and procedure manual

Once the community knows or senses that a church cares enough to be diligent about the safety of our children, it might consider that the church’s other messages are also worth hearing.  We are a light in this community and we care about our children and families.
